The headset is the pair of sealed bearings that let your fork turn in the deck. Every deck sold today is integrated, meaning the bearings drop straight into the head tube with no cups to press in. That is why a headset is a ten-minute swap and why any integrated headset on this page fits any current deck.

When to replace it

Gritty or notchy steering, a clunk when you land, or bars that will not stay straight no matter how tight the clamp is. New decks do not come with a headset, so add one to a deck order. Most headsets include the top cap and crown race, the listing says what is in the box, and it is the same part whether you run SCS, HIC or IHC.

Yes, if your deck is integrated, which every pro scooter deck sold in the last several years is. The bearings drop straight into the head tube. If you are riding a very old deck with pressed cups, message us before you buy.

Do new decks come with a headset?

No. Headset bearings are not included with a deck, so add a headset when you buy one. Griptape is included free with every deck we sell.

Do I need a different headset for SCS, HIC or IHC?

No. The headset is the same for all three. Only the top cap and compression hardware differ, and the SCS clamp replaces the top cap entirely.
